Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson two lawyers. At the age of five and moved to Oxfordshire and went to the Dragon School. Emma chose to become an actor at age six. For several years she was a student at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. There she learned singing dance, acting and singing. When she was ten, she performed as well as taken as the main character in several Stagecoach performances and school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, the 2001 film adaption of J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was made in 1999. Emma was discovered by agent through their Oxford teacher. After eight continuous auditions, the producer David Heyman told Emma and the other candidates Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been cast for the roles of the three leads Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's first film role was alongside Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. The film set records for the opening day sales as well as opening week-end take-offs and became the top-grossing movie of 2001. The film was praised by critics and the performance of three acclaimed young actors. The well-known British daily The Daily Telegraph called her performance admirable. Afterward, Emma was nominated for five awards based on her performance in the film winning The Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress in a Feature Film.
